We’re on a journey with a clear aim, to create an industry leading onboarding experience! 

This role is integral to shaping the onboarding employee experience and ensuring new hires are aligned with the Checkout.com culture, operating principles and strategy from the outset of their journey with us.

As the onboarding specialist, you’ll lead the onboarding for the UK with excitement and passion, setting the pace for the rest of their career at Checkout. You’ll ensure that new hires feel supported, engaged, and set up for success in their roles from day one. You will look to continuously improve the UK onboarding experience, creating an environment where new employees can quickly adapt to Checkout.com’s high performance culture.

Role overview | Remit and Responsibilities

  • Lead the evolution of our onboarding experience, shaping a digital-first, automated journey that aligns with our organisational priorities, including DEIB, leadership development, and culture-building. You’ll bring our recently reimagined onboarding experience to life through impactful delivery, design, and innovation.

  • Facilitate engaging onboarding sessions that introduces Checkout’s mission, values, and structure, laying a strong cultural and strategic foundation from day one and bringing the Checkout brand to the forefront of the experience.

  • Manage the end-to-end onboarding operation, ensuring a smooth transition from candidate to employee. Ensure hire process is completed in Workday, employee documentation is present and any queries are closed out utilising our ticketing system (FreshService)

  • Build and maintain cross-functional relationships and ensure regular communication between onboarding, Talent Acquisition, IT, Workplace and hiring manager to ensure a seamless experience.

  • Empower both new hires and managers with the tools, training, and resources needed for a successful ramp-up, with a clear focus on the first 90 days. This includes running regular manager enablement sessions to ensure Checkouts leaders are equipped to onboard effectively.

  • Create and manage key touchpoints throughout the onboarding journey and beyond by  gathering feedback from new joiners and stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Leverage employee lifecycle data to inform and evolve the onboarding program, ensuring it remains impactful, scalable, and aligned with business needs.

  • Maintain compliance and consistency by keeping onboarding documentation, processes, and handbooks up to date with both legal and organisational standards.

  • Stay ahead of the curve by monitoring onboarding trends, tools, and technologies, bringing new ideas and improvements to the program.

  • Act as a visible onboarding champion across the business, advocating for the value of a great onboarding experience and fostering a culture of inclusion, belonging, and high performance from day one.

  • Manage our global mobility program, overseeing end-to-end operations, provider relationships, and stakeholder engagement. Delivering a seamless employee experience across relocations and international moves.

  • Ability to develop long-term onboarding solutions that align with Checkout.com’s culture, values and business needs

  • Data driven approach and interested in designing and implementing improvements to the onboarding programe backed by data insights

  • Proactive in adopting new tools, methodologies and technologies to continuously improve the onboarding experience

  • Ensures that onboarding practices foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace, with an emphasis on belonging.

  • Experience with onboarding tooling (e.g. Workday)
