Description

About us

We are Digital Science and we are advancing the research ecosystem.
We are a pioneering technology company, and our vision is of a future where a trusted and collaborative research ecosystem drives progress for all. We believe in better, open, collaborative and inclusive research. In creating the next generation of tools and working in partnership with the community we tackle some of the biggest challenges to research. In order to achieve our vision, we need innovative, inspiring and dynamic people to join our team. Want to join us?

Your new role

As a Pre-Sales Solutions Architect, you will serve as a primary pre-sales expert, engaging with clients to assess their research needs and demonstrate how our solutions can effectively address those requirements. This role involves collaborating with Sales and Delivery teams to guide clients through the pre-sales process, from initial engagement to scoping and pricing Digital Science offerings.

The Pre-Sales Solutions Architect leverages deep cross-product knowledge, an understanding of Digital Science data components and capabilities, along with industry specific insights to design and deliver tailored demonstrations, webinars, and sales materials. In addition to serving as a subject matter expert, the architect also provides technical expertise for proposals and RFX responses and supports scoping and pricing of contracts including services.

While the Pre-Sales Solutions Architect’s primary focus is on pre-sales and solution design, they also contribute to client enablement through training and workshops and play a key role in representing the company at industry events.

Please note - due to business need, we can only accept applications from candidates who reside in the following locations where we have established legal entities: UK, Spain, Germany and Romania. If you apply from outside of these areas, your application will not be considered.

Please be aware that we may close this position early if we receive a high volume of applications, so we encourage you to apply promptly.

What you’ll be doing

  • Client Engagement & Needs Analysis: Identify and engage potential clients, assessing their research needs and objectives relative to Digital Science products and demonstrating our solutions.
  • Enhanced Support Opportunities: Actively listen for client cues that indicate a need for tailored solutions or enhanced support, signalling when to transition opportunities to specialised consulting teams for deeper engagement.
  • Pre-Sales Collaboration with Sales: Collaborate closely with Sales and Delivery teams throughout the pre-sales process, guiding clients from initial interest to the final stages using specialised product knowledge and industry insights.
  • Collaboration with Solutions, Services & Success Colleagues: Partner with Solutions Specialists, Solutions Analysts and other team members to ensure a seamless handoff between pre-sales and standard solution engagements, leveraging their expertise in out-of-the-box functionality for client trials and demos.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert on Digital Science products, capabilities, and customer use cases, providing insights that enhance client engagement and solution alignment.
  • Tailored Solution Design: Work with the product team to design and deliver customised demonstrations, webinars, and sales materials that clearly communicate the value and functionality of our solutions.
  • Proposal & RFX Development: Collaborate with the Delivery team to craft technical components of proposals and RFX responses, ensuring accuracy and relevance to client needs.
  • Statement of Work (SoW) Management: Lead the modification or drafting of SoWs in collaboration with the Delivery Team, ensuring all services are accurately documented and aligned with client expectations.
  • Client Training & Enablement: Facilitate training sessions and workshops to enhance client understanding and usage of our products, promoting long-term value realisation.
  • Industry Representation & Thought Leadership: Represent the company at industry conferences, contributing to thought leadership and expanding our presence in the field.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Strong technical proficiency in Digital Science products (particularly Dimensions) and ability to quickly learn and demonstrate product functionality, ideally skilled in Python and SQL in GBQ environment and API.
  • Prior experience in pre-sales, technical sales, or a similar role, ideally within a SaaS or technology-driven organization and/or prior experience in an analytical role working with/for government, funders, and/or nonprofits.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value for diverse audiences.
  • Experience collaborating with internal teams to align technical solutions with customer objectives.
  • Ability to manage multiple multiple technical support engagements simultaneously, ensuring high-quality delivery and responsiveness.
Don't worry if you don't meet every qualification—let us be the judge! Studies show that many qualified candidates from under-represented groups hesitate to apply unless they meet every single requirement. We are dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive team and strongly encourage you to submit your application.
