Role/Department:

The team support Northern Trust’s business development in a variety of ways, offering consulting on Northern Trust and market offerings and capabilities. The teams primary focus is to deliver robust and efficient servicing solutions for new and existing Clients, specialising in complex change or complex client structures. The role can cover engagements from pre- sale all the way through to post implementation.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

Responsible for analysing specific business needs and architecting solutions, coordinates and consults on solution, drives collaboration across business lines to provide appropriate solutions while effectively balancing the client requirements against our organisational needs.

Translating the initial idea/client meetings from the sales process into a business-led programme of work requires;

  • Creating and agreeing the scope/statement of work
  • Assisting in the creation of commercial proposals
  • Ensuring appropriate communication, governance and reporting of progress to senior stakeholders and attending steering groups as required
  • Undertaking on site due diligence and working directly with the client

Ensures the realisation of the desired business outcome by developing specific and appropriate solution proposals which are commercially viable and are guided by functional policies as well as legal and regulatory requirements.

Skills/Qualifications:

The successful candidate will benefit from having: 

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with the C-suite
  • Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, or services
  • An understand of risk management frameworks
  • May lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity
  • Leadership and organizational skills are required to determine the Business Unit's goals, resources needed, and to assess and develop the skills of staff. 
  • In-depth Functional / Industry Knowledge is required 
  • Highly flexible and adaptable to change 
  • Excellent presentation & communication skills to all levels externally and internally including tailoring message from high-level overview to in-depth detailed explanations as appropriate for the audience
  • Explains difficult or sensitive information, communicates difficult concepts and negotiates with others to adopt a different point of view
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience, willingness to share knowledge to increase expertise across the team, providing guidance and supporting other’s develop
  • High emotional intelligence (EQ) to effectively motivate, inspire and earn the trust
  • Ability to communicate ideas and solutions effectively regardless of the audience
  • Ability to manage and push-back to clients appropriately and at senior levels
  • Demonstrated expertise in discerning when and how to escalate a task or action
  • A College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience is preferred.
