Onboarding Specialist

Montu is looking for a detail-oriented and compliance-focused Onboarding Specialist to strengthen our People & Culture team. With one team member already in place, this role will focus on ensuring our onboarding processes meet the highest compliance standards while still creating a smooth and engaging new starter experience.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring all regulatory, legal, and company requirements are met during onboarding, particularly within a healthcare environment, while supporting new hires to feel welcomed, prepared, and ready to contribute. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, regulated setting and enjoys balancing process compliance with employee experience.

In this role, you’ll work closely with the People & Culture Manager to manage compliance checks, coordinate onboarding activities, and maintain accurate documentation to ensure our people processes are audit-ready.

What are we looking for?

We’re seeking someone with experience in a high-growth startup or fast-paced environment, who understands the unique needs of onboarding in a rapidly evolving company. You’ll be a proactive problem-solver, an adaptable communicator, and someone who thrives on connecting people with purpose and clarity. Previous experience in healthcare or another regulated sector will be a strong advantage.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee compliance aspects of onboarding, including right-to-work checks, DBS processing, professional registrations, and reference checks

  • Ensure all onboarding activities adhere to regulatory and company requirements, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records

  • Partner with the People & Culture Manager and wider team to deliver a seamless onboarding experience that balances compliance with engagement

  • Support the creation and delivery of onboarding sessions, ensuring new hires are connected to our mission, values, and ways of working

  • Monitor and track compliance documentation to ensure the company is always audit-ready

  • Continuously review and improve compliance and onboarding processes, identifying opportunities for efficiency and scalability in a high-growth environment

You’ll be a great fit if you’re a self-starter who can navigate ambiguity and is passionate about creating an onboarding experience that supports new hires in hitting the ground running.

Skills, experience and qualifications:

  • Demonstrable experience in HR, onboarding, compliance, or a similar role in a fast-paced environment (healthcare or other regulated industry experience is a significant advantage)

  • Strong understanding of compliance requirements, with experience managing pre-employment checks and maintaining accurate records

  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple processes at once

  • Confident communicator who can balance regulatory requirements with a people-first approach

  • Proactive, adaptable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively in a growing team

If you don’t meet every qualification but believe you have the drive and skills to make an impact, we encourage you to apply. We’re always looking for passionate individuals who are excited to support our mission and thrive in an ever-evolving, high-energy environment.

Additional requirements:

  • This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check

  • You must have the right to work in the UK

  • For roles involving regulated activity or clinical decision-making, we will require confirmation of professional registration and clearance through the DBS Update Service

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary

  • 25 days holiday (rising to 30 after one year) + bank holidays

  • 5% matched pension

  • Cycle-to-work scheme

  • Opportunities for development and growth

  • A dynamic and supportive work environment
