The Junior Architect supports the early stages of solution development across Kuehne & Nagel’s CL verticals, including Consumer, Pharma, Aerospace, and Government & Defence.  The role contributes to the discovery, design, and costing of technical solutions that meet business requirements, support tender responses and align with internal standards.

Reporting to Head of Solution Architects, the Junior Architect collaborates with Business Development, Operations, Solution Engineers and IT to interpret RFIs/RFQs, define solution scope, build cost estimates using the SCT (Solution Costing Tool), and support the production of design artefacts and bid collateral.

How you create impact

  • Review and interpret RFI and RFQ documentation as part of new tender opportunities.
  • Identify key technical and functional requirements and capture them for solution shaping.
  • Work with Solution Engineers and Business Development to define solution scope and prepare costs using the Solution Costing Tool (SCT).
  • Support the creation of supporting collateral for tender submissions, including solution outlines, pricing assumptions, and Landscape/process flow diagrams.
  • Assist in the production of design artefacts such as BRDs, Solution Designs, Traceability Matrices, Block Plans.
  • Liaise with IT teams to gather infrastructure requirements and associated costs.
  • Ensure all artefacts and activities align with corporate architecture methodology and governance standards.
  • Participate in peer reviews and contribute to internal design discussions and presentations.

 

What we would like you to bring

Skills needed:

  • Experience reviewing RFIs/RFQs and identifying solution requirements
  • Understanding of solution costing principles and tools
  • Ability to document business requirements and technical assumptions clearly
  • Familiarity with architecture design artefacts such as BRDs, SDs, Traceability Matrices, and SoWs
  • Good verbal and written communication skills for both technical and business audiences
  • Competent with Microsoft Office, Visio/Lucid charts
  • Awareness of logistics systems (WMS, TMS, EDI) and IT infrastructure principles
